One Manchester United player is bound for the exit door in 2026, according to Fabrizio Romano

Manchester United were able to move on a number of players during the summer as Ruben Amorim looks to mould a squad capable of adapting to his tactical system.

Marcus Rashford headed to Barcelona on loan while Alejandro Garnacho and Antony were sold to Chelsea and Real Betis, respectively. Jadon Sancho moved to Aston Villa on loan and is out of contract at Old Trafford next summer so will depart when his deal expires.

Rasmus Hojlund has also departed on loan but Napoli have an obligation to buy the striker if they win Serie A. The forward has started well with the reigning champions while Andre Onana has also been moved on.

Despite the large number of exits, including those released such as Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen, not all players who United wanted to leave the club ending up departing.

Tyrell Malacia to leave Man Utd in 2026

Tyrell Malacia was out in the United wilderness as the club sought to move him on. A deadline day move to Spanish side Elche fell through and the player did not appear interested in a move to Turkey or Saudi Arabia as their transfer windows remained open later than other European windows.

Now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has said the player will leave the club next year when his contract expires. He revealed on his YouTube channel: “Tyrell Malacia, despite returning to training with the first team of Manchester United after a crazy window where he had several opportunities, Tyrell Malacia is not going to sign any new contract at Man United, and in any case, will leave the club for sure, 100% in 2026.”

The Dutch defender joined United in 2022 under Erik ten Hag and was sent on loan to PSV Eindhoven for the second half of last campaign.

Tyrell Malacia back in first-team training at Man Utd

Just last week, Malacia was welcomed back to first-team training at United. The defender had been training with the club’s Under-21s with the Mail reporting “his intensity is said to be ‘off the charts’ with his attitude ‘an example for everybody else’.”

Since then he is back in the fold with Amorim’s senior players but while he will be part of the set-up again, his long-term future at Old Trafford appears to be finalised well ahead of the expiration of his contract.
