Slovenia drew 0-0 against Kosovo last night, with Benjamin Sesko featuring for his national team.
Sesko has been a large feature in the Slovenia national team since his debut for the side in 2021.
Since marking his debut for the side, the striker has scored 16 goals in 44 appearances.
But, last night, the 22-year-old was unable to hit the back of the net and therefore, Slovenia picked up one point.
With this the case, the side now sit third in their qualifying group with a win needed in their last three games to have any chance of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in North America next year.
Now, following Slovenia’s draw against Kosovo, the national media has had their say commenting on both Sesko’s and the team’s performance.
To start, Primorske Svet said that Benjamin Sesko was “insufficiently accurate” in executing his chances whilst stating that the team played “not particularly attractive play” at times.
Meanwhile, RTV Slovenia stated that Sesko had “in particular had some nice chances” but that it “wasn’t his day.”
Furthermore, commenting on the match, Slovenian manager Matjaz Kek stated that his team “had our opponent under control in a way we haven’t had any for a long time, but I am missing a bit more of a killer instinct in the penalty area.”
Manchester United will be hoping that Benjamin Sesko can score, continuing his trend of scoring that was seen against Sunderland, something that earned him a message from Rasmus Hojlund who is currently at Napoli on loan.
However, in the short-term, Sesko’s and Slovenia’s attention may turn towards reviewing their gameplay against Kosovo and switching their attention towards Monday’s game against group leaders Switzerland.
If Slovenia can win against Switzerland, they will move themselves closer to qualification.
