To put it simply, the Kansas City Chiefs need to improve moving forward if they want to return to the Super Bowl. That all starts with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, two of the greatest to ever lace them up.
Kelce had a decent game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night, finishing with 61 yards on seven receptions for one touchdown. On the season, he’s averaging 11 yards per reception, good for 243 yards and two touchdowns on the year.
However, the Jaguars’ loss has stung a few Chiefs players the wrong way, including Kelce, who discussed it in an episode of "New Heights" with his brother Jason. He made a few fair points, including the fact that the team was up 14 points and committing the amount of penalties they did.
"We go up 14 points, we can't let them get back into it. A 14-point lead, and on top of that, 14 expletive penalties," he said.
There are other factors the Chiefs have to consider for that game, but looking back at it, it was one they should've walked away with. They ended the game with 476 total yards, compared to the Jaguars’ 319. They also won the turnover battle and allowed no sacks, compared to the Jaguars’ three allowed.
"We outgained the Jags by 157 yards, won the turnover battle and time of possession."
"It's so frustrating to lose a game after that."
Despite the frustration, it’s important to give kudos to the Jaguars for coming out in a tough game and winning, even though they didn’t play their best football. Kelce made sure to do that.
"Hats off to the Jags, they finished the game and we didn't, and they played a cleaner game than we did.
"Their special teams, offense and defense outperformed us, and we're moving on. We've got the Lions coming in. I don't think we really need to talk anymore about the Jags' loss."
