Speaking toTMZ Sports, Dickerson didn’t mince words when asked about Bad Bunny’s upcoming Super Bowl 60 halftime performance. The 64-year-old, who ranks seventh all-time in NFL rushing yards, admitted he wasn’t familiar with the Grammy-winning artist but questioned the NFL’s motives behind the selection. “I don’t know who he is, but I’m not surprised. The NFL is ultra-corrupt and more crooked than the federal government.”Dickerson said.
Dickerson’s frustration stems from what he perceives as the league’s growing politicization of entertainment. He criticized the NFL for prioritizing social or political statements over fan-driven appeal, arguing that football’s biggest stage should remain neutral. His comments intensified when addressing Bad Bunny’s past criticisms of U.S. institutions. Dickerson accused the performer of hypocrisy for accepting a Super Bowl invitation despite negative remarks about America.
“I heard some stuff he said about the United States.I’m from the US., I love my country. If you don’t like the United States, get your a*s out of here, don’t come over here.”Dickerson added.
With Super Bowl 60 in Las Vegas nearing, the league is increasingly under fire due to its entertainment decisions. The NFL, in its effort to introduce pop culture and football once again, is in the middle of the current cultural divide that encompasses America, with Eric Dickerson’s comments leading the news stories on the internet and radio.
