Undefeated Norway hosts Israel on Saturday in the hopes of extending its lead in the hunt for 2026 World Cup qualification.
Erling Haaland is the top scorer in UEFA’s portion of the 2026 World Cup qualifying run and will look to extend his tear of form at home to Israel on Saturday. Norway is yet to drop a single point in UEFA qualification Group I and already boasts a six-point lead over European giant Italy, albeit having played one game more than the Azzurri.
Manchester City talisman Haaland has nine qualifying goals from only five games to date, which is at least three more than any other player in UEFA qualifying. Israel is by no means out of the qualifying race, sitting six points off Norway’s pace for now, though defeat in Oslo this weekend would rule out any chance of claiming top spot.
Ran Ben Shimon’s side suffered an agonizing setback in its last outing after a 5-4 defeat to Italy, which featured four goals in the final 10 minutes of the match. Israel can make up for that miss by becoming the first team to defeat Norway in 2025, having finished second-best in each of their two previous encounters with the Landslaget.
