It was recently revealed that the New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks discussed a potential trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo during the summer.
However, new reporting says that the Knicks had one firm rule: they were not going to move Jalen Brunson.
“Team sources have made it clear that Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson was, as expected, untouchable in these talks. In terms of possible players being involved, the common sense lens turns toward Towns, OG Anunoby and Mitchell Robinson from there,” per Sam Amick.

The Knicks would be thrilled to have Antetokounmpo, but he’s still not enough to let go of Brunson.
Brunson has become the most important player for the Knicks, an offensive threat as well as a great team leader.
Last year, he averaged 26.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 7.3 assists on 48.8 percent from the field.
Make no mistake, the Knicks want Antetokounmpo, just like every other team in the league.
But they won’t give up their most significant star, no matter how great Antetokounmpo is.
However, they are willing to deal away other talents, such as Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson, and perhaps some others.
This is how the Knicks feel right now, but perhaps they will change their tune later in the season if they are facing difficulties and coming up short.
Failure has a way of bringing a new perspective, and the Knicks could feel differently if they aren’t at the top of the Eastern Conference.
They know Antetokounmpo could be a massive help for their team, but the Knicks love Brunson and everything he currently does.
He’s the king of New York, and probably will be for some time.
