Chicago Bears making change on offensive line

LAKE FOREST, Ill., — The Chicago Bears are making a change out of their bye week as they prepare for the Week 6 battle against the Washington Commanders.

Head coach Ben Johnson confirmed to reporters on Saturday that the team will start Theo Benedet at left tackle this week, replacing Braxton Jones. The move comes after Benedet started at right tackle against the Las Vegas Raiders but was moved to left tackle when the team took out Jones. The combo of Benedet at left tackle and rookie Ozzy Trapillo at right tackle appeared to work a lot better in the second half for the Bears.

Jones won the left tackle job out of training camp and started the first four games for the Bears this season. But it was clear he lost a step and was still recovering from his ankle injury he suffered a year go. With Benedet at left tackle, the Bears will get Darnell Wright back at right tackle for the game.

Chicago's offensive line will be tested early and often against a good Washington front.
