16-month-old Chiefs fan competes in national competition

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - One Kansas City baby is competing in a national contest to be this year’s ‘Baby of the Year.’

Casey and Martrez Taylor are the proud parents of 16-month-old Langston, an adorable, smiley baby who may be one of Kansas City’s youngest Chiefs fans.

Kasey says the decision to enter Langston in for the competition was entirely her husband’s.

“I just thought it was the sweetest thing,” said Kasey. “I mean, it makes complete sense if you know Trez.”

Martrez spoke on just how rewarding it is to be Langston’s dad.

“Just seeing him grow and introducing him to family and friends is just super special,” said Taylor.

Through their son, Casey gets to see her husband through a unique lens.

“It’s really neat to kind of see how he, how he raises Langston, just kind of like seeing it through his eyes as a first-time dad, just reminds me of what it was like for me when I was younger, raising my first two,” said Kasey.

If Langston wins, $25,000 prize money would be used to set up a college fund for Casey and Martrez’s kids.

Colossal’s annual contest is more than just an online voting competition: it raises money to help nonprofit Baby2Baby. Last year, the competition gave a $24 million grant to help provide necessities for families.

“It would mean a lot for the Kansas City community, who I already know is so incredibly philanthropic, to be able to show up for baby to baby,” said Kasey Taylor.

Your single online vote could be the difference maker in this contest. Community members can vote by going to this link.
