Bengals Joe Flacco has a chance to pull off something only one player ever has

Joe Flacco’s 2025 season has turned into something nobody saw coming when the year started. The veteran quarterback began the campaign with the Cleveland Browns as their experienced starter, but now finds himself suiting up for the Cincinnati Bengals with a chance to make NFL history.

The Bengals are counting on the 40-year-old to steady their offense in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers. This isn’t just another regular-season game for Flacco, though.

According to recent reports by Insider Andrew Siciliano, he’s closing in on a milestone that’s only been achieved once before in NFL history.

What Flacco is chasing hasn’t been done in over sixty years. The last player to beat the same team twice in one season while wearing two different uniforms was Jack Kemp back in 1962. Kemp faced the New York Titans while playing for both the San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills that year.

Flacco already has one win over Green Bay under his belt from Week 3. Playing for Cleveland, he helped the Browns grind out a 13-10 victory despite modest numbers. He completed 21 of 36 passes for 142 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. The defense carried most of the load in Cleveland’s only win of the season.

Things went downhill for Flacco quickly after the win against the Packers. He struggled through a 1-3 stretch as the starter, throwing just two touchdowns against six interceptions. The Browns eventually benched him for rookie Dillon Gabriel before Cincinnati swooped in with a trade.

The Bengals sent a 2026 fifth-round pick to Cleveland in exchange for Flacco and a sixth-rounder. Now the veteran gets another shot at the Packers, this time wearing different colors and carrying different expectations for a team that needs him badly.
