Last year’s pick, Serbian guard Nikola Topić, missed last season recovering from a torn ACL and is out at least four to six weeks after testicular surgery on Monday.
Indiana will need to find scoring from other sources as All-NBA guard Tyrese Haliburton won’t play in 2025-26 after tearing his right Achilles’ tendon in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard will be asked to take up some of the slack and the team also lost longtime center Myles Turner to the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency. Backup point guard T.J. McConnell is out at least a month after injuring a hamstring and guard Ben Sheppard won’t play on Saturday for undisclosed reasons.
Oklahoma City picked up a 122-116 win over the visiting Charlotte Hornets on Thursday night while the Pacers last played on Tuesday, beating the host Minnesota Timberwolves 135-134 in overtime.
