Enzo Fernandez suffers knee injury
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has withdrawn from the Argentina camp after suffering a knee injury in training.
The South American battler has been an ever-present for the Blues this season, scoring three goals in seven Premier League outings in 2025-26.
Fernandez has also captained the side in Reece James’ absence and is a critical player for the West London outfit.
With the former Benfica man now a doubt for the upcoming trip to the City Ground, it provides a big opportunity for one of his team-mates.
Romeo Lavia needs a run in the team
Should Fernandez not be fit enough to feature next weekend, Maresca will surely turn to fringe man Romeo Lavia in the heart of his midfield.

The young Belgian has been blighted by injuries since moving to Chelsea from Southampton for £53 million in 2023 and has only played 19 times over the last two seasons.
However, Lavia came off the bench in the recent win over Liverpool and will now be eyeing a starting berth in the Chelsea team.
If Maresca can get the 21-year-old playing anywhere near his best, it could feel like a new signing for Chelsea.
Lavia’s potential partnership with Moises Caicedo promises to be one of the most physical in the Premier League and Fernandez’s injury provides a massive opportunity for the Belgium international.
