With the NFL trade deadline starting to come up quickly, the rumor mill has started heating up over the last few days. For the Green Bay Packers, there have been rumors about the team both buying more talent and potentially selling some off.
Heading into Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Packers are an unknown team. In the first two games of the year, they were viewed as one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the league after beating the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders. Over the last two games, the exact opposite has been the case.
In Week 3, Green Bay lost to the Cleveland Browns. Last time out, the Packers tied in overtime with the Dallas Cowboys.
That being said, one of Green Bay’s defenders has started emerging as a potential trade candidates before the deadline.
According to a report from longtime NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Packers have received trade interest in 25-year-old pass rusher Kingsley Enagbare.
Enagbare is a key depth piece for the Green Bay defense right now. However, the team has quite a bit of talent on the edge. If the Packers are given the right offer, there is a good chance that he would be available.
Throughout his 55 career games in the NFL, Enagbare has racked up 113 total tackles to go along with 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and four defended passes. He has yet to break into being a consistent piece of the Green Bay defense, but has performed well when given playing time.
What would it take for the Packers to give up Enagbare? A third-round pick would be a dream compensation, but a fourth-round pick might get it done. Green Bay likely won’t be re-signing the young pass rusher after this season, so getting some value for him would be wise.
Obviously, this is just a preliminary report about teams calling the Packers with interest. There do not appear to be specific serious talks regarding him at this point in time.
Expect to continue hearing rumors connected to Green Bay as the deadline draws closer. Moving forward, Enagbare will be a name worth keeping a close eye on.
