The Pittsburgh Steelers moved quickly to sign a player the Philadelphia Eagles cut, shortly after the latter suffered a surprise loss to the New York Giants.

It was reported by NFL Network's Mike Garafolo that the Eagles waived defensive end K.J. Henry and the Steelers quickly scooped up the star after a workout earlier this week. Henry has had an eventful start to the season so far, joining his third team just this season in Pittsburgh.

In July 2025, Henry was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns after being signed by the Eagles. One month later, the Browns waived the 26-year-old and then re-signed him to the practice squad on Sept. 10 before being waived yet again 13 days later.

Roughly one week after being waived, Henry was signed to the Eagles' practice squad but was released the following day. Overall, the 26-year-old has had a turbulent career in the NFL since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders.

Spending the first season of his career with Washington, he was part of the Commanders' final wave of roster cuts before the start of the 2024 season. He was claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals and appeared in two games but did not make too much of an impact.

The Dallas Cowboys signed Henry from the Bengals' practice squad and appeared in two games as a backup. He was released in November 2024, ultimately landing with Philadelphia later that month.

Although he didn't see much action with the Eagles, he was part of the squad that won Super Bowl LIX over the Kansas City Chiefs. In all, Henry has appeared in 14 career games, with three starts, accruing 22 career tackles and two and a half sacks.

With his career now taking him to Pittsburgh, Henry can expect a passionate fanbase behind him, should he make his mark with the team somehow.

This was best exemplified with Wilson, the Steelers' quarterback last season, and his struggles as the Giants' signal caller. Against the Eagles, Wilson had one handoff and one low incompletion before he was taken off for good, serenaded by boos from the MetLife crowd.

On social media, Steelers fans wrote how they felt about seeing their former quarterback showered with boos and playing like a shell of himself.

“Not gonna lie, I hate this for him,” a fan wrote. “He should’ve hung it up before he even came to us.” Another echoed the sentiment: “After that first season in Denver, it was time to walk away.”

Another posted: “He’s a bit corny, sure, but he’s a good guy. He’s had an amazing career. Watching him get booed like that sucked.”
