Jack Grealish showed the football world how genuine he is after his sincere apology to Miguel Almiron after disparaging the ex-Newcastle United star. The forward, who is on loan at Everton from Manchester City, won the Premier League title in dramatic fashion in his debut season at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola's side came back from 2-0 down against Aston Villa on the last day of the season to win 3-2 and finish a mere point ahead of Liverpool for the second time in four seasons.
While Grealish struggled to adapt to the Spaniard's way of playing, that didn't stop the England international from getting stuck into the celebratory festivities. During the club's trophy parade, he was asked his thoughts on what inspired City's unlikely comeback to which he aimed a brutal jibe at Almiron.
When a phone was pointed at him, he said: "There were two secrets — one, Riyad (Mahrez), take him off the pitch, as soon as possible. He played like Almiron." The former Magpies midfielder had struggled heavily in the 2021/22 campaign, having scored just one goal across 32 games in all competitions.
It was months later during the 2022/23 season that Grealish showed his empathetic side and expressed regret over his comments, admitting it was meant to be private but the video was instead leaked.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, he explained: "I haven’t actually been asked about that and let me just address it," he said. "I do some f*****g stupid stuff sometimes that I do regret. It was the day after the season finished and obviously I’d had a few drinks. Then I remember I was in Ibiza and it (the video) had obviously come out."

Amid Grealish's apology, Almiron had been enjoying the best season of his career on Tyneside, finishing the season with 11 goals and admitted himself in an interview that Grealish is a great player and he wished him the best.
The Toffees ace added in the interview that he had taken notice of Almiron's comments and displayed the ultimate respect towards his fellow pro. "I swear, I’m actually buzzing at the way he’s reacted," Grealish continued.
"He said something about me in an interview the other day, he wished me the best. I thought, ‘what a guy’, because if somebody had said that about me, I’d have probably been the other way.
"I messaged Matt Targett because I’m close with him from Villa and I said to him, ‘can you message him for me and say to him that I apologise’. I thought the video was private. But even in private I shouldn’t have said it because he’s a fellow professional."

Despite winning seven trophies in just four years at City, Grealish's form dwindled last season, scoring just one league goal the entire season. Upon his loan move to Everton, the winger has rediscovered his confidence and has become a key player for David Moyes with the Merseyside club sitting eighth in the table after seven games.
He's racked up five goals and assists already, three more than he achieved in the entirety of last season, and opened his account for the club with a 90th-minute winner in their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace last weekend.
Grealish came in for special praise from Moyes who said after the game: "Jack’s done great again; he had a couple of shots on target which were comfortable for the goalkeeper to save. I have been pushing him to get goals and assists – Johnny on the spot, that is the key."
