Chelsea to Rival Arsenal for Barcelona Midfielder

According to reports, Chelsea are set to rival Arsenal for the signature of Barcelona talent Marc Casado. The Spanish midfielder has impressed in Catalonia under Hansi Flick, and both London clubs have him on their radar for a potential move.

Both the Blues and Gunners can boast of an embarrassment of riches in midfield. It is a notable feat, as the two giants possess potential candidates for the best midfielder in the league in Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice, respectively.

However, The 22-year-old Spaniard would provide further depth for both clubs and, most importantly, not strengthen a rival if they manage to secure his services. The report suggests that Barcelona expects a fee between €30 million and €35 million if they allow Casado to leave the club this summer.

Chelsea and Arsenal will have to decide if they are willing to spend that much on a player who will likely only provide depth and not command a starting berth, given the options available at the moment.

Marc Casado has suitors in Chelsea and Arsenal

Reported Chelsea target Marc Casado is one of the most exciting prospects in Spanish football at the moment. The Spaniard came through Barcelona’s famed La Masia youth development facilities and has so far only played for the Catalan side or their youth teams.

Casado has made 123 appearances for the Catalan giants across three teams, playing eight times for the under-19 team, 67 times for Barcelona Athletic, and 48 times for the senior team, scoring once and providing nine assists for three teams.

He has managed his first two caps for the Spanish national team and is expected to emerge as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world in the coming years. Casado is contracted to the Spanish giant until at least the summer of 2028, giving the reigning La Liga champions leverage in any future inquiries for his services, given reported interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.
