Lewandowski joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 from Bayern Munich, signing a contract that runs until June 2026. However, the Spanish newspaper Sport reported on Sunday that the Catalan club's management decided not to renew the player's contract, paving the way for his departure at the end of the current season.

The newspaper attributed the decision to technical reasons, given the 37-year-old striker's declining performance and his inability to keep up with the team's pace and apply pressure on opponents.

The newspaper indicated that Barcelona is prioritizing the signing of a new striker and a right-back in the upcoming summer transfer window. Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez has emerged as the most prominent candidate to replace Lewandowski, along with Cameroonian Karl Eta-Ewing, a Levante player.

Reports also indicated that the club's management had previously tried to persuade Lewandowski to renew his contract and then market him to a Saudi league club, but the player rejected the idea, preferring to remain in Europe.

It's worth noting that Lewandowski has made 156 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 105 goals and providing 20 assists.
