Report: Everton set to hire David Moyes' son for very specific role

Since the Friedkin Group completed their Everton takeover last December, they’ve been making changes to all areas of the club.

First it was the manager, with David Moyes replacing Sean Dyche, and then the American investors brought in a new CEO in the shape of Angus Kinnear.

Nick Hammond joined from Leeds United to lead player trading, whilst Nick Cox left Manchester United to become a technical director.

Now, Everton have made another recruit, and it’s actually Moyes’ son.

Everton hire David Moyes’ son

According to Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Everton are set to hire Moyes’ son to the recruitment department of the club.

David Junior, who has worked as an agent in the past, was recently a scout at West Ham United and will now join the Toffees in a similar role.

He will be tasked with scouting in a very specific part of Europe, with Moyes keen to widen his net on the continent.

This development comes after Kinnear and his chiefs tried to bring back highly esteemed scout Mick Doherty.

Nixon reports that Everton may not have the budget to reappoint Doherty, who is a big ‘favourite’ of Moyes.

David Moyes Junior was linked with Hull City

David Junior was linked with a move to Championship outfit Hull City earlier this year, but that move failed to materialise.

Clearly, there was always the possibility of working with his father again on Merseyside, although it’s understood the decision was made by a different section of the club.

Moyes would’ve likely given his blessing, but by all accounts, this is a hire based upon a successful stint at West Ham.

David Junior spent three years at the Hammers between 2021 and 2024, with the club enjoying multiple campaigns in Europe and winning the Conference League during that time.
