Journalist reveals that Manchester United have to meet£100m price tag for in-form PL winger

Many English clubs are eyeing Manchester United target Antoine Semenyo, and his value can rise over £100 million

Manchester United’s scouts have been watching the Premier League closely this season. Their attention has turned towards a player lighting up the south coast.

Antoine Semenyo, Bournemouth’s standout forward, keeps performing with consistency every week. He has flair and the intent to trouble opposition back lines. The Ghanaian winger’s quick and well-deserved rise has drawn attention from several top English clubs.

Pete O’Rourke said on the Inside Track podcast that Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City now follow Semenyo’s progress closely. He mentioned that Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, maintains strong links with Bournemouth, and that connection fuels fresh speculation.

O’Rourke explained that both United and Tottenham looked at Semenyo in the summer but chose not to make a move. Now his price keeps rising every week. Bournemouth know his value is climbing and expect serious interest soon. O’Rourke added that Bournemouth will not sell him in January because they could set his price beyond £100 million if he keeps performing well.

“* *Yeah, well, look, there’s no surprise that some of these biggest clubs in England are looking at Semenyo.

“Liverpool, we know their links with Bournemouth through Richard Hughes, and Manchester United showed some interest in Semenyo in the summer.

“Tottenham also showed a bit of an interest during the summer, and I’m sure Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal would all consider Semenyo.

“The thing is for all those interested clubs, his price tag’s going up week by week, and Bournemouth could put it up beyond £100million if his performances continue.

“Bournemouth are bracing themselves for interest in Semenyo. I don’t see a move happening in January just due to the price tag that would it take to get him out.

“I think Bournemouth probably are expecting serious offers for the player come next summer, having done well to keep hold of him this summer and tie him down to a new contract.”

The club have tied the 25-year-old to a new deal and now feel secure about his future. Still, they expect strong bids from England’s biggest clubs next summer. We reported earlier that Manchester United do not mind tabling an increased bid for the forward. That shows how strongly they rate him. Liverpool plan to sign Semenyo as well, which adds to the tough competition for what could become a fierce transfer battle.

Why should United think before joining the race?

Manchester United will face heavy competition for Antoine Semenyo

Semenyo’s six goals and three assists in the first seven league matches prove his quality. His pace, physical strength, and ability to strike with either foot make him a dangerous attacking threat. He stretches defences, drops deep to link play, and presses with relentless energy. Yet, while Semenyo’s form looks brilliant, United must think carefully before spending heavily on him and getting involved in a bidding war.

They already signed Bryan Mbeumo this summer. He plays a similar wide forward role under Ruben Amorim’s 3–4–3 system. Mbeumo suits the style, offering pace, direct movement, and tireless pressing, qualities that Amorim values. So, if the Red Devils fight a bidding war for Semenyo, it could bring confusion instead of progress and waste money on a position that is not a priority.

Bournemouth’s high asking price only adds pressure. Spending £75 million or more on another wide forward could disrupt United’s recruitment plans. The club need to strengthen other positions, such as defensive midfield and goalkeeping. That approach will help Amorim’s project grow with the proper depth in all areas and a clear direction.
