Late in the second quarter of Sunday’s Week 6 matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was tackled after a catch across the middle of the field.
Harrison’s head whipped back and slammed into the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium. The second-year wide receiver was slow to get up and met by the Cardinals’ medical staff on the sideline, where he quickly went into the blue medical tent.
Harrison left the game and went back into the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion.
“I would be very surprised if he doesn't have a concussion. Head slams right into the turf. Getting checked now,” notable sports doctor Jeff Mueller wrote on X in response to the apparent head injury.
The Cardinals are already injury-ridden at this point in the 2025 NFL season.
Quarterback Kyler Murray was ruled out for Sunday’s game due to a foot injury, clearing the way for backup Jacoby Brissett to make the start. The Arizona squad is also without lead running backs James Conner and Trey Benson, who are both on injured reserve.
This apparent head injury comes at an unfortunate time for Harrison Jr., who’s playing at Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time in his NFL career. Harrison Jr.’s father, Marvin Harrison, put together a legendary 13-year NFL career with the Colts from 1996-2008.
"It’s going to be a special game for me, for sure… A lot of good memories, good times,” Harrison Jr. said earlier this week.
Harrison had two catches for 36 yards before exiting the game in the second quarter. The Cardinals trail the Colts 10-14 at halftime.
