Keegan Murray Out 4–6 Weeks After Thumb Surgery

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray will miss 4-6 weeks with a left thumb injury that requires surgery. The injury happened during Friday’s preseason game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Kings sent out the following medical update Sunday:

“Forward Keegan Murray left the Kings preseason game versus the Portland Trail Blazers in the second quarter with a left thumb injury. An MRI revealed a torn ulnar collateral ligament of the left thumb. Murray will undergo surgery and be reevaluated in approximately 4-6 weeks.”

The Kings don’t exactly have a lot of strong depth at the small forward and power forward spots, and this doesn’t help Doug Christie’s hope this team improves on defense. However, this could mean more minutes for rookie Nique Clifford.
