Jerry Jones could make Cowboys fans re-think everything with one trade

It's safe to say that Jerry Jones doesn't have the highest approval rating of his tenure running the Dallas Cowboys after the infamous Micah Parsons trade earlier this year. Nobody wants to keep on beating the horse when it's clearly down, but it's (justifiably) going to take a decent amount of time before Jerry is back in the good graces of Cowboys fans.

And winning.

The NFL trade deadline is less than a month away, and wouldn't it be something if Jones could flip the script back in his favor? The addition of James Houston has already softened the blow of losing Parsons, but a blockbuster trade idea suggested by NFL Spin Zone might even have Cowboys fans singing Jerry's praises.

Cowboys labeled possible trade suitor for Trey Hendrickson if Bengals sell

At the end of the movie The Sandlot, Scotty Smalls's stepdad receives a peace offering after the boys lose his signed Babe Ruth baseball to a dog. The narrator says, "Even though Bill loved the Murderers' Row ball, he was still plenty mad about me having swiped his Babe Ruth autographed ball and ruining it. So, I didn't feel too bad when he grounded me for a week instead of the rest of my life."

The idea of the Cowboys making an in-season trade to acquire Trey Hendrickson from the Bengals could be a similar type of vibe.

You can't get Micah Parsons back, but you could extend an olive branch and at least make the effort to make amends.

Other teams that could be potential suitors, according to the article over on NFL Spin Zone, also include the Eagles and Commanders, so not only could the Cowboys potentially add an elite edge player at the deadline, but they also might be able to prevent their division rivals and direct competition from doing so in the process.

The Bengals just made their last-gasp effort to save their season. They don't want the fan base to believe they spent all that money in the offseason to bring back Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Mike Gesicki, and others just to mail it in before the middle of October. They traded for Joe Flacco, and will see if he can keep the ship afloat this month.

If not, it would be shocking to see Hendrickson still on that team by November 5. And if Hendrickson is available, why not the Cowboys? His value might not be at a 1st-round premium anymore, and the Cowboys have extra high selections as it is.

Jerry Jones needs to be ready to put his draft picks where his mouth is when it comes to his belief in Dak Prescott to lead this Dallas team to a Super Bowl. Hendrickson could be the ideal midseason acquisition for this Cowboys team.
