NEW ORLEANS, La. (WLBT) - The New Orleans Saints fall to 1-5 on the season, the first time since 1999, after a close loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, 25-19.

The Saints came out swinging in the game, finding Chris Olave on the first play from scrimmage for a 53-yard gain to get them in Patriots territory quick.

New Orleans would have to settle for a 34-yard Blake Grupe field goal on their opening drive though.

The Patriots responded quickly after that with a four-play, 65-yard drive capped off by a 53-yard passing touchdown from Drake Maye to DeMario Douglas to get the Patriots the lead.

The Saints followed that with a 10-play, 43-yard drive that was finished by another Grupe field goal from 48 yards.

Once again, the Patriots would walk down the field quickly to find another touchdown after that.

New Orleans then found the endzone to open the second quarter thanks to an 11-play, 60-yard drive capped off by a one-yard rushing touchdown by Taysom Hill.

The defense then made a play for the Saints, forcing a turnover on downs on the Patriots next drive.

New Orleans was able to find three points off of the turnover to give them their only lead in this game.

The Patriots then finished off the first half with an impressive seven-play, 73-yard drive that was finished by an 29-yard passing touchdown from Maye to Boutte once again to retake the lead.

The second half became a stalemate with the Patriots finding a field goal on their opening drive of the half.

New Orleans was able to get a field goal at the start of the fourth quarter, but that was the last points scored in this game.

The Saints run game was stifled on Sunday with Alvin Kamara being the leading rusher with only 31 yards on 10 carries. They finished with just 73 total rushing yards as a team.

Olave was the leading receiver for the Saints, finishing with 98 yards on six catches.

Defensively, the Saints finished with just one sack but was able to secure seven tackles for loss. They were unable to force any turnovers though, a drastic change from last week’s five turnovers against the Giants.
