Aaron Rodgers suggested the field at Acrisure Stadium was “borderline unplayable” as the Steelers defeated the Browns.

On Sunday, the Steelers secured a third successive win with a 23-9 victory over the Browns. Rodgers, who led the Steelers to victory over the Vikings in Ireland, was efficient as Pittsburgh dismantled its division rivals to take control of the AFC North.

While rookie Dillon Gabriel struggled against the vaunted Steelers defense, Rodgers enjoyed a solid day. He completed 21 of 30 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns, but the four-time MVP was not pleased with the state of the Steelers' home field.

Rodgers was pleased to secure the win over a division rival and improve to 4-1. However, he wasn’t satisfied with the turf at Acrisure Stadium, which led to kicker Chris Boswell slipping and resulted in All-Pro safety Miles Killebrew suffering a concerning knee injury.

The Acrisure Stadium field is scheduled to be re-sodded, and Rodgers made his feelings regarding an improved surface very clear. He told reporters: “It got real beat up.

“By the time the third quarter rolled around, that thing was really beat up. So I feel bad about what happened to Miles [Killebrew]. I’m not sure if there was any carry there.”

Killebrew suffered a serious right knee injury, which may cost him the rest of the season. Meanwhile, the field forced Boswell to miss from 54 yards out in the second half as the kicker caught a divot with his plant leg slipping, leading to his attempt coming up well short of the posts.

“Thankfully, Boz took care of those kicks before the field got borderline unplayable,” Rodgers quipped. Boswell made a trio of first-half field goals, including one that snuck in from 50 yards out, to give Pittsburgh a 9-3 halftime lead.

The grounds crew at Acrisure Stadium is due to replace the sod after the Steelers’ win over the Browns. While the field was far from fresh, Rodgers is used to playing on substandard surfaces.

“It reminds me a little bit of the field in Green Bay in the early years,” the 41-year-old said. “But not until November or early December where it’d get kind of torn up a little bit.

“Then they went out, they found an incredible field maintenance guy that comes over and helps our guys out. The field in Green Bay is absolutely immaculate, but the field today got pretty torn up.”

Rodgers made a point to praise the field at Lambeau Field while expressing frustration with the Steelers’ own home, especially given it’s not November or December. There are six home regular-season games remaining for the Steelers, who could also find themselves hosting a game in January.

The 4-1 Steelers will enjoy some time away from Acrisure Stadium while the field undergoes maintenance. Rodgers and co. are next in action on the road against the 2-4 Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football on Oct. 16.
