Jordan Pickford is poised to sign a new deal with Everton, completing a trio of contract extensions in the Toffees' defence. Pickford, 31, has once again been one of Everton's star performers this season and is the club's second-longest-serving player.

The goalkeeper joined Everton in a £30million move from Sunderland in 2017 and made his 300th appearance for the club during their recent 2-1 win at home to Crystal Palace. Pickford's displays have been instrumental towards Everton maintaining their Premier League status, with David Moyes and the club's owners now looking to steer them away from constant relegation battles.

Moyes and The Friedkin Group made the 31-year-old's long-term future a priority, and the Times report that he's on the verge of signing a new four-year deal. His extension would follow that of centre-back duo James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite, as the new hierarchy at Hill Dickinson Stadium bid to keep the spine of their team together.

In addition, Everton will look to offer new contracts to both James Garner and Vitalii Mykolenko, whose current deals expire at the end of this season. Pickford, meanwhile, is already tied down until 2027.

The former Sunderland starlet broke a record for England during last Thursday's 3-0 victory over Wales at Wembley. Pickford became the first goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in eight successive games for the Three Lions, breaking the previous record shared by him and the legendary Gordon Banks.

Pickford hasn't conceded a goal on international duty since October 2024. He'll have the chance to help England secure direct qualification to the World Cup next summer during Tuesday's visit to Latvia, set to be his 80th cap.

After Pickford's record-breaking display against Wales, England boss Thomas Tuchel hailed: "It's not easy to stay focused in a dominant first half like that; have basically nothing to do and then suddenly, I think in the 42nd minute, there's a situation where it always can be dangerous.

"And second half, he had a very difficult save to close his legs very fast. He's a fantastic shot-stopper. There is no doubt about it. Today, there was a challenge for him because they pressed us high. And we want to escape the pressing.

"We want to have the chance to escape the pressing, also with short passes, and not only with long shots from him. So, he did very well. He kept his composure. He kept calm. This is basically what we demand of him. He stayed calm, kept his focus."

Tuchel also praised Pickford's ability to take on board what's demanded of him tactically. "It's like, always a team effort, and I think he's happy to share this with at least the defenders in front of him," the German added.

"But with a defensive approach that we make it the least saves possible from him, but he's doing good. Well done, congratulations. Fantastic achievement."
