Auburn NFL roundup: Jamel Dean gets his first sack, 10th interception for Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Jamel Dean recorded the first sack of his NFL career on Sunday in his 97th game, including the playoffs.

Dean caused San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones to fumble on the sack. Tampa Bay recovered the fumble, but because the sack came on the final snap of the first half, the Bucs couldn’t capitalize on the turnover.

But Dean’s next takeaway on Sunday was more consequential.

Dean got the 10th interception of his NFL career and second of the 2025 season when he picked off Jones on a fourth-and-5 throw from the Tampa Bay 33-yard line and returned it 6 yards to the Bucs 20 with 5:43 left in the game. Tampa Bay led by eight points at the time and added a field goal after the interception for a 30-19 victory.

Dean also made four tackles in the game.

Dean was among the 15 former Auburn players who got on the field on the sixth Sunday of the NFL’s 106th season.

Two other former Auburn players were involved in the San Francisco-Tampa Bay game:

Buccaneers defensive tackle Jayson Jones (Calera) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

Forty-Niners offensive tackle Kilian Zierer is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

Nix threw a 16-yard pass to tight end Nate Adkins for Denver’s only touchdown as the Broncos took a 10-6 lead on the final play of the first quarter.
