Senne Lammens is the shining light of Manchester United’s season right now after an impressive debut against Sunderland before the international break.
Man Utd’s 2-0 win against Sunderland was the club’s first clean sheet of the season, and it’s not a coincidence that it happened with Senne Lammens‘ debut.
Lammens immediately installed calm in the chaos that was left behind by Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, with the fans taking a liking to him instantly.
Now with Belgium on international duty, he has the best mentor to learn from in the form of Thibaut Courtois, who has commented on the national team goalkeeper situation.

Thibaut Courtois on Senne Lammens and Belgian GKs
Lammens has been dubbed “Baby Courtois” before, so the opportunity for him to learn from the man himself is a golden chance.
Courtois has never been shy about championing the next generation of goalkeepers because they all see him as an idol figure.
Now that Lammens is at Old Trafford, inviting more scrutiny due to playing for Man Utd, he can take tips from Courtois on how to handle it, because Real Madrid are probably the only club that comes close in terms of scrutiny.
Courtois, speaking to Belgian outlet Voetbal Nieuws, lauded the next generation of Belgian goalkeepers, the crown jewel of which will hopefully be Lammens.

He said: “It’s great to see these new talents playing. The future looks bright. They’re good goalkeepers. We have a good group of goalkeepers here, the atmosphere is good. They need to keep making progress with their teams.”
Lammens can be Man Utd’s goalkeeper for the next decade
It feels like an exaggeration to say this about a player who has played just one game for the club, but Lammens has shown the intangibles required to succeed at Old Trafford.
He looks unfazed in the face of extreme pressure, and he forgets the mistake made in the past to remain in top form for the future.
Even against Sunderland, there was a nervy moment when he was caught out of his box in no-man’s land, but he quickly put it behind him to stay in command of his area.
That’s the kind of thick skin needed to succeed at United, which was clearly lacking in Onana, who used to get trapped in a vicious cycle as soon as he made his first error.
Man Utd fans should be patient with Lammens’ mistakes, and Ruben Amorim should give him a long rope, because if things break right, they have their goalkeeper for the next decade sorted.
