Chelsea ready to sign Ajax youngster Jorthy Mokio

Ajax have always been a hotbed for young talent to come through, and it looks as if they have another very promising youngster in Jorthy Mokio who is already making an impact on the first team squad.

The 17-year-old has already featured in six of the eight Eredivisie games this season, and has emerged on the radar of the Blues as a potential new addition.

According to London World, Chelsea are one of a number of Premier League clubs who are interested in signing Mokio, just months after taking Hato from them.

Given the Blues have a multitude of injury problems in their first team squad right now, the addition of Mokio would help solve a number of their issues off the back of a hectic 2024/25.

Who is Jorthy Mokio?

Mokio has already made his full debut for the Belgium national team, and has established himself as a player who can play in multiple positions for Ajax.

The youngster can feature at both centre-back and defensive midfield, as well as also having limited experience playing left-back.

With the long-term injury problem suffered by Levi Colwill that could rule him out of the whole season, Maresca was keen to sign another centre-back before the transfer window closed.

This wish was not granted to him, however The Chelsea Chronicle has been told that Chelsea are considering adding a defender to their squad in January.
