Ruben Amorim will absolutely hate what Denmark's manager just said about Rasmus Hojlund - opinion

Rasmus Hojlund continues to enjoy his spell away from Manchester United, following a loan exit in the summer transfer window.

The striker struggled last season under Ruben Amorim, with the arrival of Benjamin Sesko this summer putting further doubt over his career at Old Trafford.

In the end, Hojlund joined Napoli on a season-long loan, hopeful that he could rediscover his best form while back in the Serie A.

So far, he has managed just that with four goals for the club, while he has found similar fortune on the international stage.

That has led to a claim from the Danish head coach that will frustrate those associated with Manchester United.

Brian Riemer claims Rasmus Hojlund is good enough for the Premier League

Rasmus Hojlund’s struggles last season are well-documented, but that wasn’t always the case at Manchester United.

The striker showed plenty of potential in his first season, scoring ten in the Premier League and five goals in the Champions League.

Now on loan at Napoli, the 22-year-old is rebuilding himself and aims to return to some of his best form.

With that in mind, Denmark head coach Brian Riemer believes that Hojlund is capable of playing in the Premier League still.

He told the press: “I think Rasmus has the quality for both leagues, without discussion.

“Does he fit in Italian football? Yes. There was no doubt about that, because he had already proven that, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t fit in English football. On the contrary, I would almost say.”

He also said: “The fact that he is now on a well-functioning team and has players around him who take pride in doing good for others helps to make the outcome for a striker like Rasmus, who needs to be serviced. It is more important than which league you play in.”

It’s something that will certainly leave Amorim frustrated, as he may have missed an opportunity to keep a quality option at the club.

Instead, he will have to press on with the options at his disposal, which include getting Sesko firing in front of goal.

Manchester United may regret Rasmus Hojlund move

With a player like Hojlund, there needs to be a mixture of patience and service to get the best out of him.

At just 22 years old, there is an understanding that he won’t be the finished product yet.

However, Manchester United need results and after a poor season, things led to the loan deal being sanctioned.

There is a £38 million buy clause in the switch that will be triggered if certain conditions are met, which means all the power is out of the club’s hands.

If Hojlund goes on to find his spark again and is sold on for a huge loss, then it would be quite a financial hit.

There are issues over the replacement, too, as Sesko is a player in a similar position, requiring time and service to thrive.

In all, it may end up being an expensive mistake for United to make.
