Philadelphia Eagles legend LeSean McCoy believes it’s time for a current starter to retire after the way he played Thursday night in a loss to the New York Giants.
McCoy called out Eagles starting cornerback Adoree’ Jackson after he didn’t exactly give maximum effort during a Cam Skattebo touchdown run.
You can see the play McCoy complained about here.
"It’s time to RETIRE come on bro," LeSean McCoy posted on X. “This crazy, super SOFT. WOW.”
During the play, Adoree’ Jackson runs through the hole and throws his shoulder into Skattebo, who stays on his feet.
Skattebo then runs into two other Eagles defenders and is slowed down, as Jackson watches on from behind.
Football analyst Kirk Herbstreit called Jackson out during the broadcast for his lack of effort.
“Now watch Adoree’ Jackson’s effort here to make a tackle,” Herbstreit said. “And you hate to see that, even from a corner down at the goal line. Just trying to bend over and throw his body. You’ve got to wrap up.”
The veteran Jackson is in his first season in Philadelphia after spending the first eight years of his career with the Titans and Giants.
A former first-round pick, Jackson was a Jim Thorpe Award winner and consensus All-American during his college career at USC.
So far this season he has 20 tackles and four passes defended in five games.
As for LeSean McCoy, the two-time Super Bowl champion and six-time Pro Bowler played for the Eagles from 2009-14. He also spent time with the Bills, Chiefs and Buccaneers during his NFL career.
