Fred Warner’s wife was there in spirit cheering him on in Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sydney Warner, who is pregnant with the linebacker’s second child, shared a couple of pictures on her Instagram story, stating that she managed to make it back in time to watch the game after she was out for the day receiving a prenatal massage.
While Warner’s wife was at home happily cheering him on, her smile couldn’t have lasted long. Sydney had to witness her husband get badly injured right in the first quarter of the game. Warner’s teammate, Ji’Ayir Brown fell on his leg and fractured his right ankle. Warner had to be taken off the field in a medical cart, to the disappointment and shock of watching 49ers fans.

Fred Warner’s injury was clearly a serious one and the medical team has reported that the linebacker will not play again during the 2025 NFL season. Head coach Kyle Shanahan announced later that Warner will have to undergo surgery for the broken ankle.
Fred Warner’s 49ers Are Currently Riddled With Injuries
Fred Warner’s season-ending injury is not the only one that the 49ers had to deal with in this football campaign. The team has been highly unfortunate this NFL season to sustain a number of injuries, including a crucial toe injury to quarterback Brock Purdy. Purdy suffered a toe injury a few weeks back and is still not eligible to return.

The 49ers also had tight end George Kittle injured right in the first game of the season. Kittle, who received a massive contract extension from the team in the offseason, is also not scheduled to return to the field anytime soon. Another crucial injury that the 49ers had to witness was that of Nick Bosa. Bosa tore his ACL and will not return for the rest of the season, along with Ricky Pearsall.
As their injured list gets longer and longer, the chances of the 49ers making it anywhere close to the postseason is getting slimmer as weeks go by. The team will need to be pretty accepting of this fact before they move on to upcoming weeks with many players absent.
