Coach Prime laid down the law on the “Home Grown” podcast with Derek and David Carr. When Shedeur asked when his pops would show up to a Browns game, the answer came back ice cold and crystal clear.

Shedeur climbed from third-string to backup after the Browns shipped Joe Flacco to Cincinnati. He’s now QB2 behind rookie starter Dillon Gabriel on Kevin Stefanski’s depth chart. That’s progress, but it’s still the clipboard. Still, the headset on the sideline. Still not taking snaps that count.
So, the father-son exchange went down exactly how you’d expect from Prime. When the former Colorado QB extended the invitation, asking, “When are you coming to a game?” Deion didn’t blink. “When you play. I’m not gonna come to see you sit. When you play, I am coming.”

Coach Prime’s message, quite frankly, cuts through all the noise. He’s not interested in watching his son hold a tablet and wear a football cap on game day. He wants to see his son under center, calling protections, slinging the rock. That’s when he’ll book the visit to Cleveland.
He taught his sons to be starters, not benchwarmers. Shedeur knows the rules. He heard it at Jackson State, then at Boulder. So Coach Prime doesn’t sound worried. The 58-year-old legend expects Shedeur to force his way onto the field eventually.
But until that happens, Prime, recovering from his 16th surgery, is staying in Boulder. The message to Shedeur is simple: give me a reason to show up.

After the podcast clip aired, social media exploded with reactions, from laughing emojis to sharp criticism of Deion’s helicopter parenting.
One fan bluntly wrote, “Deion roasting 😭😭😭”

A third shared their frustration, penning, “You should be concerned about your a– team instead of being a helicopter parent. I always liked you, but you’ve been ass about how you handled this.”

But not everyone came with pitchforks. A random positive X user claimed, “Really do adore this family. You can tell how much they love each other. It’s refreshing.”
Some see a father pushing his son to greatness. Others see a loudmouth who can’t step back and let his kid breathe. There’s no middle ground with Prime and has never been.
Brown’s coaching staff hasn’t committed to any timeline for Shedeur. Dillon Gabriel is the starter for now. If he struggles, Shedeur will receive his shot. Until then, the NFL Hall of Famer keeps his distance and ensures everyone knows why.
