Moises Caicedo's worst moment in a Chelsea shirt ended little-known Nottingham Forest record in 2023

There have been very few poor moments from Moises Caicedo since his big-money move to Chelsea back in 2023, however arguably his worst occurred against their upcoming opponents, Nottingham Forest.

Caicedo is now finally being given his flowers and rated as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, with his performance against Liverpool standing out amongst the rest.

Gary Neville believes Caicedo is actually better right now than Declan Rice, and if his three goals already this season are anything to go by he could be in the process of adding another weapon to his arsenal.

While things are great now, there were a few teething problems not long after his arrival to Stamford Bridge, and one of those occurred when the Blues hosted Nottingham Forest.

Moises Caicedo’s worst Chelsea moment cost them against Nottingham Forest

Mauricio Pochettino wasn’t enjoying the best start to life as Chelsea manager, and this continued when they were defeated 1-0 by Forest in early September 2023.

Fingers were pointed at Caicedo for the goal, after he lost possession in the middle of the park and was punished by Antony Elanga’s strike just after half-time.

The Blues fell to 11th in the table at the time, however they ended up rescuing a sixth-placed finish, with Caicedo’s improvement in performances being a key factor behind this.

The midfielder was regularly a source of ridicule due to his price tag. However, Forest will be well aware that when they face the Blues on Saturday they will be coming up against one of the world’s best.

Chelsea’s little-known record against Nottingham Forest

Chelsea have a very strong record against Forest, and face them at a good time amid uncertainty regarding manager Ange Postecoglou’s future at the club.

The Blues have just one defeat to their upcoming opponents in the past 28 years, with that being via Caicedo’s mistake.

A win to start the weekend would at least temporarily see Chelsea move into the top four of the table, which would be the minimum target they have when the campaign comes to an end in May.

Enzo Maresca will also be looking to recreate some of the magic which came from Chelsea’s crucial victory at the City Ground last season, which ultimately booked their place in the Champions League for this campaign.
