The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without a handful of players when they face the Seattle Seahawks but will have a handful of players to step up for the Week 6 matchup.
Pass rusher Travon Walker will play after exiting the win over the Kansas City Chiefs with a wrist injury. He'll wear a club and may not be at full strength. Then again, having the Georgia Bulldog around will be huge for the Jacksonville pass rush.
On the other hand, starting center Robert Hainsey suffered a hamstring injury in Week 5 and didn't practice ahead of the Seahawks game. If he isn't good to go, rookie Jonah Monheim, who flashed against the Chiefs, will get the start.
It's also worth noting that tight end Brenton Strange won't be available. The former Penn State Nittany Lion sustained a quad injury against Kansas City. He was placed on the Injured Reserve in the aftermath and will miss at least four games.
During his absence, the Jaguars will lean on Hunter Long and Johnny Mundt to step in his place.
The Jaguars made a couple roster moves before the Seahawks game
Unlike past games, the Jaguars didn't promote anyone to the active roster from the practice squad via standard elevation. That said, they brougth back running back Cody Scharder just a couple days after releasing him. On top of that, the team's brass signed tight end Qadir Ismail and a familiar face in wide receiver Tim Jones to the practice squad.
Adding Ismael to the practice squad makes sense in light of the Brenton Strange injury. The former Penn State Nittany Lion landed on the Injured Reserve list after suffering a quad injury in the win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Ismael gives Jacksonville options at tight end during Strange's absence.
On the other hand, Jones was an undrafted free agent in 2021. He spent his rookie season in the Jaguars practice squad and made the 53-man roster each of the past three years. However, the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagle bolted for the Minnesota Vikings in free agency but didn't make the team and started the season in their practice squad.
Jones' production doesn't pop off the stat sheet, but he carved a niche on special teams and as a blocker on offense. He could get elevated a few times throughout the year when you take into account that Jacksonville doesn't have much great at depth at receiver.
