When Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar decided to forgo the 2025 NFL Draft and return for the 2025 college football season, many people believed that Allar would be one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Well, Allar suffered a season ending injury on Saturday in a 22-21 loss against the Northwestern Wildcats.

There are going to be many questions now about his draft stock in 2026. Before the college football season began, many believed that he was going to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Well, Allar is in danger of maybe not getting drafted altogether. During the 2025 season, he completed 64.8% of his passes for 1,100 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions. Allar also rushed for 172 yards on 36 carries and one touchdown, along with averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

There is no question that Allar could potentially be a bust in the NFL. When the games are at its brightest, he always dwindles with the game on the line. He also did not play well against good teams. Allar was at Penn State for four seasons. It is going to be interesting to see what NFL scouts think of him for the long term at the NFL level.
There is a chance that he could wind up like Shedeur Sanders and drop all the way to the fifth round. This is what some college football fans said about Allar’s potential future in the NFL:
Drew Allar will be a draft bust if taken in the first round… just like Justin fields

Drew allar got James Franklin fired and some nfl gm is gonna still take him first round because he’s built like Josh Allen

Drew Allar should’ve never been in discussion as a first round talent. https://t.co/umzcDzieT3

Drew Allar is still a first round pick. He’s got the size, arm talent, work ethic, and football IQ to be successful at the next level. Sometimes things just don’t go the way you expect them to.

Drew Allar would’ve fallen out of the first round yall are delusional https://t.co/gmUoQ3jo6B

There is no question that some NFL general manager will reach for Allar in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Whatever general manager does that should immediately be fired unless they have Allar being a developmental plan for the next year or two. There are going to be many questions about where he will be drafted this year.
In reality, he should be a day three pick or go undrafted. There are a lot of way better quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft than Allar.
