The Detroit Lions fell short in obtaining the result they desired on Sunday Night Football after falling 30-17 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Lions safety Brian Branch however didn’t fall short in his post game altercation with Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, after Branch landed a strike on the nine year NFL veteran that left Smith-Schuster with a bloody nose.
During his postgame press conference, Kansas City head coach Andy Reid spoke about the impactful hit which Smith-Schuster took.

“The guy came up and hit JuJu for what looked like no reason. That’s tough, and he did pretty good damage on JuJu’s nose,” Reid said as per Bleacher Report.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has also reported, as per Bleacher Report, that the NFL will conduct a review of what happened and what led to the melee and skirmish with some form of discipline potentially to follow.
“This is exactly the type of situation that the NFL never wants to have. It never wants to have in a standalone game, it never wants it in a standalone game on a Sunday night. And yes, the league will review the incident and I am told that determinations on discipline will be made,” Schefter said while speaking on SportsCenter on Monday.
“So, at the very least, there will be fines, certainly possible suspension. And we’ll see how this plays out through the course of the week, but I would think that we should get word later today or tomorrow.”

When speaking after the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell emphasized that the type of incident and scenes that occurred post game will not be accepted from his team moving forward.
“I love Brian Branch, but what he did is inexcusable and it’s not going to be accepted here. It’s not what we do, it’s not what we’re about. I apologized to coach Reid and the Chiefs and Schuster,” Campbell said.
“That’s not ok. That’s not what we do here, and it’s not gonna be ok. He knows it, our team knows it. That’s not what we do.”

While Brach has said that he also felt like he was being bullied out on the field, he too admitted that his behavior was ultimately “childish.”
“It was a childish thing, but I’m tired of people doing stuff in between the play and refs don’t catch it,” Branch said as per ESPN. “They be trying to bully me out there. I should have never did it. It was childish.”
