Alvaro Arbeloa on Cestero: “He’s the best ‘6’ in Spain”

Alvaro Arbeloa has once again made clear who leads his Castilla side. Following the 2–0 win over Pontevedra, the coach praised midfielder Cestero for his continued dominance since earning promotion from Juvenil A.

“It’s the Castilla of Manuel Angel and Palacios,” Arbeloa told _Marca_. “Also of Cestero, who for me is the best No. 6 in Spain right now.”

Cestero’s rise has been swift. Once working quietly behind more prominent academy names like Diego Aguado, Fortea, and Joan Martinez, the midfielder has become indispensable in just three months with Castilla. Arbeloa, who managed him last season in Juvenil A, has made him a fixture in the starting eleven.

His performances have not gone unnoticed. Xabi Alonso has already called him up for several first-team training sessions, and multiple clubs are tracking his development closely. Inside Valdebebas, the feeling is unanimous: Cestero has gone from under-the-radar prospect to one of the brightest midfield talents in La Fabrica.
