It’s another Monday Night Football doubleheader tonight, first with the Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons at 7:15 PM ET on ESPN and then the Chicago Bears versus Washington Commanders with kickoff at 8:15 PM ET on ABC. The two matchups should both be fantastic, with plenty of scoring in both games.

Bijan Robinson Eclipses 120-plus Scrimmage Yards

Bijan Robinson is the best running back in the NFL right now and the centerpiece of the Atlanta Falcons offense. On Monday Night Football, Robinson faces a Bills’ defense that has allowed 145.6 rushing yards per game this season, with opponents averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Buffalo also ranks just 20th in ESPN run-stop win rate (30 percent). Even with Ed Oliver set to return tonight, Robinson’s ability to make defenders miss and his unique receiving skills give him a path to 120-plus scrimmage yards and a touchdown.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt Scores Two TDs, Eclipses 90 Yards

Washington finally set rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt loose last week, and he delivered 150 scrimmage yards, averaging 7.1 yards per carry with a pair of touchdowns. On Monday Night Football, with the Commanders’ receiving corps banged up, Croskey-Merritt should be a focal point versus a Bears’ defense that has allowed 164.5 rushing yards per game (second-most) and the highest yards-per-carry average (6.2) in the NFL this season. Bill should get enough touches to find the end zone twice and eclipse 90 scrimmage yards.

Josh Allen Finishes with Less than 220 Passing Yards

Since racking up 394 passing yards in the comeback Week 1 win, Josh Allen is averaging just 205.8 passing yards per game in his last four contests and is now facing a Falcons’ defense that has held its four opponents to a 57.7 percent completion rate (1st in NFL), 5.8 yards per attempt (2nd), and has allowed the fewest passing yards per game (135) in the league. Without having a true No. 1 receiver to support him, this is a matchup where Allen might have to do more carrying the football.

Caleb Williams Throws for 225-plus Yards, 2 Touchdowns

Caleb Williams is starting to show more signs of finding a rhythm in Ben Johnson’s offense, posting a 7-2 TD-INT line with a 102.0 QB rating and averaging 7.5 yards per attempt in the last three games. Washington is adept at generating pressure and it has the sixth-highest sack rate (8.8 percent) in the NFL, but Williams can pepper Rome Odunze and DJ Moore with targets when they are lined up versus Marshon Lattimore (104.5 QB rating allowed) and Mike Sainristil (217 receiving yards and 73.7 percent completion rate allowed). So, as long as the Bears’ offensive line holds up and it has the fourth-highest ESPN pass-block win rate this season, Williams should have a very good performance on Monday Night Football.
Atlanta Falcons stun the Buffalo Bills

Given our two Monday Night Football predictions for this Bills vs Falcons matchup, it might not come as a surprise that we have Atlanta pulling off the road win tonight. It comes down to the Falcons’ ability to run the football, limiting Josh Allen’s possession time, and Atlanta’s defense being able to limit explosive plays. Buffalo is favored (-3.5) for good reason in this matchup and Oliver’s return could have a sizable influence on how well the Bills’ defense performance. Heading into the matchup, though, we believe the Falcons are just well-suited to beat Buffalo right now.

Jayden Daniels and Co. will likely need a ton of points to win on Monday Night Football, which is a bit more difficult to pull off given the injuries at wide receiver. However, the second-year quarterback is going to pull out the win over Caleb Williams. While Daniels’ passing numbers won’t look as good as the quarterback who was picked above him, all that will really matter is the all-important victory. Washington takes it in the fourth quarter at home, improving to 4-2 ahead of a matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7. As for the Bears, while a loss does mean a 2-3 record, there’ll be even more confidence in both Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson coming out of this matchup.
