Bam Adebayo praises girlfriend A’ja Wilson’s success, mentions Bill Russell comparisons

A’ja Wilson achieved what no WNBA or NBA player has during her 2025 campaign with the Las Vegas Aces. She added a championship and Finals MVP, having already been named MVP, DPOY, and scoring champion. This season will go down in the history books, one that might never be matched again.

Even the staunchest haters are finding Wilson’s greatness hard to dismiss. A third championship and fourth MVP award mean that she has firmly entered the GOAT conversation. And considering that the Aces are now officially a dynasty, there have been comparisons to some NBA greats, like Bill Russell.

One of the people celebrating A’ja’s success the hardest is none other than Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo. The two have been dating for a while, and Bam was involved in the Aces’ celebrations. Speaking to the media during a recent interview, Bam addressed what it’s like to watch Wilson experience all this success up close.

“That’s the thing about shared success. You’re blessed to see somebody have that much success, somebody who they compare to Bill Russell and you talk about how much greatness that they have”

“You just blessed to be a part of it, that’s the thing about shared success,” Adebayo told the media. “You’re blessed to see somebody have that much success, somebody who they compare to Bill Russell, and you talk about how much greatness that they have.”

Adebayo and the Heat will begin their own season in under two weeks. While the Heat man is a certified star in the NBA, he’s not quite what Wilson is in the W. It’s hard to see Miami being able to achieve that type of success in 2025. But that’s not what it’s about at the moment, and Adebayo seems to be doing his utmost to celebrate his partner’s greatness.
