The entire NBA is paying close attention to the situation with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
It really does feel like this could be the end of the road for Antetokounmpo and his team if the Bucks don’t do well in the new season.
Right now, most people think he would head to a team like the New York Knicks, but Jovan Buha recently said that the Los Angeles Lakers could be in the mix for him.
“I think the Lakers got to be careful with how they position themselves for the future because if it’s tough to find a Knicks-Giannis trade. So if that for whatever reason just can’t happen and Milwaukee refuses to play ball with New York because they just they don’t want to trade him in conference, they don’t like what New York’s offering, then the Lakers can swoop in and potentially offer a competitive package. … You got to be careful with the cap space, but it does seem like the Lakers are a little bit more open to a short-term move,” Buha said.
The idea of Antetokounmpo on the same team as Luka Doncic, and potentially LeBron James, seems too good to be true for Lakers fans.
It’s possible that the Lakers could make a move for Antetokounmpo, but it would be very difficult.
They would have to use their draft picks and would also have to part ways with current talent.
Pretty much anyone, aside from Doncic, would be on the table in a potential trade.
Plus, the Lakers wouldn’t be the only team vying for Antetokounmpo.
If it becomes clear that he is leaving the Bucks, a bunch of franchises would try to get Antetokounmpo.
The Lakers would have to create a sensational deal because everyone else would be trying to as well.
