Bucks Make Another Desperate Move To Keep Giannis Happy

The Milwaukee Bucks really, really want Giannis Antetokounmpo to stay with the franchise for many more years, and they offered up a new example of their desperation to keep him happy this week.

Antetokounmpo is the greatest player in Bucks history. He is already the franchise’s all-time leader in games, minutes, points, rebounds, assists, and blocks, and helped bring the organization a championship in 2021. He means a lot to them on and off the court.

That is why they want him to be a Milwaukee lifer and have made many moves to appease their Greek Freak. They made Jason Kidd their head coach in 2014. Traded for Jrue Holiday to hopefully be the final piece of a championship puzzle in 2020. Which he was. Made Adrian Griffin the head coach two years ago with the superstars’ approval.

They made a rare blockbuster trade for future Hall of Famer Damian Lillard in 2023. A bold and surprising move for Kyle Kuzma in February, and a waived Lillard to give Pacers big man Myles Turner $107 million deal in free agency this summer. For the last five seasons, they have also given Antetokounmpo’s brother Thanasis a job when he would be otherwise playing the the G-League or overseas.

Well, it seems to keep their superstar happy, they are planning to employ another brother in 2025-26.

Bucks sign Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brother Alex

After inking Thanasis Antetkounmpo to a new deal in August, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Bucks have now also signed the two-time MVP’s younger brother, Alex. While it is a total nepotistic move, at least the club made history in the process.

“The Milwaukee Bucks are signing Alex Antetokounmpo to a two-way NBA deal, joining older brothers Giannis and Thanasis,” Charania wrote on X. “This marks the first time in NBA history that three brothers are on active roster contracts with the same team.”

Thanasis, the oldest of the three brothers, is a back-of-the-bench veteran averaging just 2.4 points, 1.6 rebounds in 7.7 minutes during his Bucks career. There is no reason to expect Alex Antetokounmpo to be any different since he signed a two-way deal.
