The Cincinnati Bengals are pulling out all of the stops in an attempt to salvage their season following the loss of quarterback Joe Burrow to a turf toe injury. The Bengals made a rare intradivision trade with the Cleveland Browns to acquire veteran quarterback Joe Flacco.
Flacco made his first start with the franchise against the Green Bay Packers, and while the Bengals didn’t win the game, the offense showed more life than it had in recent weeks with Jake Browning as the starter.
Unfortunately, the Bengals have a short turnaround and are facing the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, which means they may have to figure out a way to win without their top defensive player, according to one prominent league insider.
“Bengals edge Trey Hendrickson is day-to-day with a back injury after a good result on the MRI. To even have a chance to play on Thursday is positive news,” [reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday.](https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1977783524045259257)
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Carrying the bengals defense on his back finally caught up to him,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“He should just sit it out. not worth the risk and him being there won’t change the result of the game,” someone else added.
“Don’t play, Eagles need him healthy for when they trade a 3rd rd pick for him!” one person added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Hendrickson is healthy enough to play on Thursday.
