Robert Griffin III Names His NFL MVP Front-Runner

Another week, another epic Tampa Bay Buccaneers game.

Todd Bowles’ team has been must-watch television through the first six games of the season, and that’s all because of one man: Baker Mayfield.

With that in mind, former NFL star QB Robert Griffin III took to X to give him his flowers, anointing him as his leading MVP candidate.

“Baker Mayfield is the MVP front runner in the NFL,” Griffin posted on X.

Truth be told, it’s hard to disagree with the former Washington Commanders star.

Through the first six weeks of the season, Mayfield has led the Buccaneers to four game-winning drives.

He’s put up big numbers without Chris Godwin Jr., Bucky Irving, and Mike Evans.

He lost star rookie WR Emeka Egbuka early on in the game vs. the San Francisco 49ers, yet he still found a way to get the job done.

The former No. 1 pick has completed his redemption arc.

He’s finally living up to his potential and all the hype.

And while it took him much more time than expected, it’s still nice to see players fulfill their true potential.

He finished the big win over the Niners with 17 completions on 23 attempts for 256 passing yards and two touchdowns, including an absolute 45-yard bomb to Tez Johnson.

Egbuka isn’t expected to be out for long, and Godwin could also return next week.

Still, Mayfield has proven that he doesn’t need his primary weapons to make an impact and, more importantly, he’s learned how to be a leader on and off the field, which was perhaps his biggest flaw in the early days of his career.
