Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Ourcommunity guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
Preseason is just a tune-up for the regular season, and the scores don’t matter, but wins are always more satisfying that losses, and the way that every player on the squad has been contributing has been impressive. The things that the coaches care about most is finding out about the players and whether they’re ready to contribute when the real games begin next week. By that measure, it’s been a rollicking success, as every player that’s seen the floor has made solid contributions, even guys that weren’t expected to play much this year, like David Jones-Garcia and Carter Bryant. Stephon Castle and De’Aaron Fox haven’t made an appearance, but Castle might play limited minutes tonight, and there are no worries about Fox being ready once his hamstring is fully healed. This has been a successful preseason, no matter what happens in the final two games against the Pacers, on on tonight, and the final one on Friday night in San Antonio.
The Pacers are basically the same team that went to the finals last year, minus Tyrese Haliburton, who will miss the season after Achilles surgery, and Myles Turner who left in free agency. That’s a couple of huge subtractions, but the team is still going to be very good with Tyrese cheering them on from the sidelines. The preseason Spurs are going to have to play well to keep their perfect preseason record, especially since Coach Mitch Johnson will be limiting the minutes of players who are already on the regular season roster. It’s going to be fun to watch, so tune in tonight.
After the last game, there was no recap, but Jeje Gomez is on the schedule tonight, so you should have a Final Score article going up shortly after the final buzzer to read and share your reactions. I’ll have the Final Score on the Friday game, so if you’re a PTR reader, you’ll be covered on both of the remaining preseason contests.
All of the Spurs points in the fourth quarter will be scored by David Jones-Garcia who will go ISO on every play.
