The New York Jets played their worst offensive game of the season in their Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, recording just 82 yards of offense in the 13-11 loss. However, on Monday, Jets fans received somewhat positive news on the injury that star wide receiver Garrett Wilson suffered in the game.
Wilson went down after attempting to catch a pass late in the fourth quarter, which forced him to miss the final snap of the game despite attempting to tough it out earlier in the team’s final possession.
Sitting at 0-6 on the season, it would take a truly miraculous and highly unlikely effort for the team to turn things around and contend in the AFC at this point.
So most Jets fans were largely concerned about Wilson’s injury being a long-term issue that could not only force him to miss significant time, but potentially harm his athleticism for years to come.
Fortunately, according to ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini, a long-term injury doesn’t appear to be the case here, as he alluded to the fact that Wilson may miss some time due to the injury, but did avoid serious injury.
There aren’t many sure things currently on New York’s roster, which may undergo some significant overhaul both at the NFL trade deadline and next offseason as they look to rebound from a disastrous 2025 season thus far.
Wilson is the exception in that department, given that the Jets decided to sign him to a four-year $130 million extension this past offseason. So Jets fans should be happy to hear that this knee injury isn’t more severe.
As for whether Wilson will be able to play in the team’s Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers, that certainly seems to be in quite a bit of doubt.
