Real Madrid full-back Ferland Mendy is set to return to team training for the first time in six months, it was announced by Mario Cortegana of The Athletic on Monday.
Mendy has been out since he got injured in the Copa Del Rey final against Barcelona in April, and has only been working individually in his recovery process.
Now, though, the plan is to slowly integrate him with the rest of the team, while being cautious and gradually increasing his minutes so that the chances of a recurring problem are minimised.
Xabi Alonso has yet to work with him or play him in any game so far, so it will be interesting to see what his plan is with the French defender when he returns.
Real Madrid do have two left-backs in the squad now, one of them being new signing Álvaro Carreras, so it is unclear where Mendy fits in the equation.
