The New York Jets will be without Garrett Wilson in the latest hammer blow to the team’s nightmare season.

Despite much optimism surrounding the team heading into the 2025 season following the end of the disappointing Aaron Rodgers era, the Jets have continued to struggle. On Sunday, the AFC East franchise fell 13-11 to the Denver Broncos at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a game that saw quarterback Justin Fields pass for just 45 yards.

Wilson himself was limited to just three catches for 13 yards, hardly numbers that reflect the four-year $130 million extension he earned back in July. The Jets will be without his presence on offense for the foreseeable future, representing another deflating moment for the NFL’s only winless team.

As the game wore on in London, Wilson began missing drives with injuries. He didn't seem like himself at times; the 25-year-old entered the game as the leading receiver in the AFC.

After the loss, the Jets slipped to 0-6, and head coach Aaron Glenn revealed that Wilson had a hip injury. However, it was then reported to actually be a knee injury.

The good news? Wilson’s MRI came back clean, so there is no serious damage. The bad news? Wilson suffered a hyperextended knee, which means he is still set to miss a couple of weeks. The Jets avoided the worst-case scenario, but will still be without their best offensive player for the next few weeks.

Wilson hit headlines as he clashed with Glenn on the sidelines after a bizarre sequence to close the first half in Tottenham. Down 10-6 in North London with just over a minute left on the clock, New York called a fake punt on 4th-and-1, which they converted after directly snapping the ball to running back Breece Hall, signalling their intent to add points before the end of the half.

However, the Jets then lacked any offensive urgency and ran out the clock. New York seemingly refused to run another play, which prompted a frustrated Wilson to remonstrate with Glenn on the sideline as they walked into the locker room.

Speaking to the media after the game, Wilson admitted that he understood the decision behind the Jets not running a play on fourth down from midfield, due to the fear of turning the ball over and allowing Denver to kick a long-range field goal.

“I just didn't know exactly what the plan was. Once I figured it out, I was disappointed. I'll just say that,” Wilson told reporters of the exchange after the game. “I didn't know exactly what the plan was. Once we converted the fourth down, I just thought we were going for the, trying to make the play.

“Obviously, we get to another fourth down, and it's a tough spot to be in. In hindsight, I get why they did that, but in the moment, I was just like, 'man...'. I don't know. Yeah.”

Glenn also told reporters he understood Wilson's frustrations: “I mean, who wouldn't be p----- when things are not going right on the offensive side of the ball. That's not going to change. I like that about him. When things are not going right, he gets p——.”

The Jets will chase a first win of the season against the 3-3 Carolina Panthers at MetLife Staidum on Sunday, Oct. 19. But they will be without Wilson.
