Justin Fields turned in one of the worst performances of his NFL career during the New York Jets’ loss to the Denver Broncos in London.
The quarterback struggled throughout the game, finishing with a stat line that left fans and analysts questioning his future as the starter.
Fields completed nine of his 17 attempts for just 45 yards but was sacked nine times, losing 55 yards in the process.
The Jets ended the game with negative-ten passing yards, a nearly unthinkable figure that highlighted the offense’s complete collapse.
Former defensive end Chris Canty spared no effort when addressing Fields’ performance on ESPN’s UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio.
He called for the Jets to make an immediate change at quarterback.
“The Jets must bench Justin Fields,” Canty said. “He’s late in getting the ball to open receivers. He holds the ball too long, and he takes too many sacks on Sunday, in London, game on the line, 4th and 8, on the edge of field goal range with less than a minute left. Fields takes a sack on a zero blitz from Denver. I’m not sure how it benefits the team by taking a sack versus throwing the ball up for grabs.”

Head coach Aaron Glenn stood by Fields after the game, making it clear that a benching wasn’t under consideration despite the disastrous showing.
A day later, Glenn’s stance remained unchanged, citing Fields’ relatively steady play through the first four games as reason enough to keep him as the starter.
While Denver’s pass rush deserves credit for the pressure, Fields’ tendency to hold the ball too long contributed significantly to the sack total.
Some breakdowns happened quickly, but others developed because Fields failed to make timely decisions.
If the Jets eventually decide to make a change, veteran Tyrod Taylor would be next in line.
For now, Glenn remains committed to Fields as his starting quarterback.
