All the latest injury news surrounding Chelsea and Nottingham Forest as they prepare to face off in the Premier League.
The former Spurs boss was controversially appointed to replace Nuno Espirito Santo - now with West Ham - and he is yet to win. Here we round up the latest injury news surrounding both teams heading into this one.
Ola Aina - Out
Aina is out until the new year after hamstring surgery. Postecoglou said before in September: “His surgery went really well - that's the first thing ticked. Now he's got to work hard and rehab, which I'm sure he will, and he'll stay close to the group.”
Oleksandar Zinchenko - Doubt
Postecoglou said before the break: “He's not too bad - he pulled up a bit sore with his groin. He did well to finish the game to be honest - he felt it pretty early on. He's played more football in the last three weeks than he has in quite a while. It's nothing significant - it'll put him out tomorrow night and probably the weekend.”
Douglas Luiz - Doubt
Postecoglou said of the midfielder in September: “Dougie wasn't great yesterday, so we sent him for a scan on his hamstring. He won't be available this weekend, and again, with him, we've got to be really careful about how we use him. So, I think we'll be really cautious. We know that it's not significant.” Luiz remains a doubt here.
Moises Caicedo - Doubt
Ecuador boss Sebastian Beccacece said: “About Moises, his coach [Maresca] said he’s injured. He’s not well.” Caicedo is a doubt but it’s worth noting that Ecuador were only playing friendlies and the midfielder has played a lot of football, so he could be resting.
Enzo Fernandez - Doubt
The midfielder is battling knee inflamation and will be a doubt for this one.
Reece James - Doubt
James is said to be battling a knock and could be a doubt here.
Andrey Santos - Expected to be fit
Santos had what has been described as a ‘small problem’ that kept him out for Benfica. he had a chance of returning against Liverpool but didn’t make it. He should be back here.
Liam Delap - Out
Maresca said of Delap in mid-September: “Liam is around 10-12 weeks, so a long way to go.” Delap is likely to be back at some point in November.
Wesley Fofana - Expected to be fit
Fofana has missed the last two games with a concussion. Maresca said last week: “Wes suffered a concussion the other day against Lincoln [and will miss the Brighton game].” Fofana is expected to be back here.
Cole Palmer - Out
Maresca confirmed recently that Palmer will be kept on the sidelines for a couple of weeks as a precaution. Since then, it has been reported that Palmer has suffered a setback that will keep him out until some time in November.
Tosin Adarabioyo - Expected to be fit
Maresca confirmed recently: “We have Tosin injured. He will probably be out until the international break as he has a small problem with his calf.” Adarabioyo could return here.
Levi Colwill - Out
Colwill has been ruled out for much of the season after an ACL injury. Maresca said shortly after the injury: “He is ok, aware he will be out for a long time. It’s a big loss for us. You know how important Levi has been for us last season and the way we want to play. We have said many times that we are able to create chances and attack if we’re able to build up the right way, and Levi was a huge part of our build-up.”
Dario Essugo - Out
Essugo has undergone surgery and will miss around four months of action. A club statement read: “Medical assessments confirmed surgery would be the required course of action, and Dario will now begin his recovery at Cobham, supported by the club's medical department.” He is expected back near the new year.
Myhailo Mudryk - Out (Suspended - Not registered in squad and not included in total injury count)
Mudryk remains suspended due to alleged doping. A statement at the time read: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA's Anti-Doping Regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
