Jake Moody delivers game winning field goal as Bears beat Commanders

The story of Week 6 for the Chicago Bears can be summed up in one word — redemption. Not only did the Bears return to Washington D.C. almost a year after they were stunned by a Hail Mary that sent them into a 10-game losing streak but kicker Jake Moody, who was cut by the San Francisco 49ers a few weeks ago, earned his own redemption.

Moody connected on a 38-yard field goal as time expired for the Bears, delivering a 25-24 win over the Commanders to send them to 3-2 on the season.

Chicago capitalized on three Commanders' turnovers on the game, scoring 13 points off of those takeaways, including the final field goal of the game. With Washington leading 24-22 and facing a fourth down in Chicago territory, quarterback Jayden Daniels fumbled the handoff as Chicago recovered. A few first downs later, the Bears were set up for that game-winning field goal.

Daniels threw an interception on the first drive of the game for the Commanders' with Jaquan Brisker picking him off in the red zone. A few drives later, rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt fumbled, which led to a Caleb Williams rushing touchdown. Chicago had a 13-0 lead before the Commanders battled back.

The Bears led 16-10 after Moody's third field goal of the game in the third quarter, and the Commanders finally took the lead as Daniels hit a wide-open Luke McCaffrey for a 33-yard touchdown pass. Daniels hit Zach Ertz for a six-yard touchdown on the Commanders' next drive, and they looked like they had control.

But every time the Commanders had a chance to put their foot on the gas and extend the lead, Chicago would answer back.

The Bears got a 55-yard touchdown pass from Williams to D'Andre Swift in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 24-22 after a failed two-point conversion. That led to the comeback drive after the turnover.

Swift finished the game with 108 rushing yards and 67 receiving yards to lead the way for the Bears. Williams finished the game 17-of-29 for 252 yards, a passing touchdown, and a rushing touchdown.
