Fans pointed out Troy Aikman’s harsh analysis of Caleb Williams during the Chicago Bears’ clash with the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football.
On a double-header with the Atlanta Falcons defeating the Buffalo Bills, the Bears traveled to Washington to take on the Commanders in a clash that pitted the top two picks of the 2024 NFL Draft against one another. Williams was looking to claim a big win over reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels in a rematch of the dramatic Hail Mary game last season.

Watching on in the booth were Aikman and Joe Buck, the voices of Monday Night Football. However, as the game unfolded, fans were stunned to hear the Dallas Cowboys legend consistently rip into Williams, despite the Bears quarterback playing relatively well.

At the end of the game, Williams had completed 17 of 29 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown - and rushed for another score - as the Bears escaped Washington with a dramatic win. He even started the game relatively well, completing seven of 10 passes for 68 yards on the opening two drives as the Bears took an early lead.
However, Aikman was far from pleased. Whether Williams completed a pass or not, or even when his center fired a wild snap that caused a five-yard loss on third down, the fault lay at the feet of the quarterback.
Fans grew tired of the analysis. One user wrote: “Troy Aikman comes on tv every time Caleb Williams plays and just criticizes him.”
Another pointed out how Aikman had actually praised Williams in the Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, but had changed his tune for the clash with the Commanders: “Did Troy Aikman suddenly have a change of heart on Caleb Williams? Week 1, he was singing his praises. This game, everything Caleb has done is the worst.

“I mean he hasn’t been sharp but he hasn’t been horrific like Troy makes it sounds,” the user continued.
“Also what did Caleb Williams do to Troy Aikman? I don’t think he’s said a single positive thing about him today,” another chimed in. One fan wrote: “Why does Troy Aikman hate Caleb Williams so much?” — while many pointed out that Aikman appeared to truly hate Williams with his ruthless analysis.
“Troy Aikman just blamed Caleb Williams for a bad snap,” a confused Bears fan wrote. Another pointed out that Aikman commented that Williams had “been off all night” on just the second drive.

Many called for Aikman to be taken off primetime, but the three-time Super Bowl champion is not going anywhere. Ahead of the 2022 season, Aikman and Buck signed a five-year deal through the 2027 NFL season worth up to $92.5 million.
Aikman finally praised Williams on the final drive, when the quarterback wheeled out on a bootleg play only to slide and force the Commanders to use their final timeout. Jake Moody kicked the winning points from 38 yards as the Bears secured a 25-24 win over the Commanders to move to 3-2. Washington have dropped to 3-3.
